Fossicking

In the Northern Territory 2 types of fossicking areas exist; declared and proposed fossicking areas.

Declared fossicking areas

To fossick in these areas, you must comply with any conditions imposed by the NT minister in addition to any other laws in force in relation to the land.

Proposed fossicking areas

Proposed areas indicate that further negotiations and agreements are required.

To fossick on a proposed fossicking area you must first obtain the appropriate consent from the minister (fossicking request form for reserved land) and notify the pastoralist of your intentions (fossicking notice/request form).
