$3.9 million in project co-funding announced
The Northern Territory Government has awarded $3.9 million in Round 18 of the Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations grants program. This co-funded program provides a diverse range of innovative drilling programs and geophysical surveys across the Territory.
By funding innovative exploration programs and making data publicly available, this program helps advance the industry and contributes to long-term economic growth. The program specifically supports projects that address geological knowledge gaps and stimulate exploration activity, to drive the discovery and development of Territory’s resources.
With a total of 38 projects from 30 companies the program includes 14 greenfields drilling programs, 6 brownfields diamond drilling programs, 10 regional-scale geophysical surveys, 7 innovative targeting projects, and one project under the advancing critical minerals category.
These projects span 12 geological provinces across the NT, providing valuable new data and drill core to encourage exploration in underexplored regions and further develop areas with known resource potential.
The projects are targeting multiple commodities, with 23 of the projects targeting commodities that are on the NT’s current and emerging critical minerals list (including beryllium, cobalt, copper, fluorine, lithium, molybdenum, rare earth elements, tungsten, zinc, niobium, tantalum and tin). To find out more about critical minerals, go to the Resourcing the Territory website.
All data and drill core generated through the program will be made publicly available by 1 August 2025 or 6 months after acquisition, whichever comes first.
For more information about the full list of successful applications, including a project map, go to the Resourcing the Territory website.
