Home and Business Battery Scheme grants fully allocated
The Home and Business Battery Scheme (HBBS) was a huge success, reaching its $6 million funding allocation and is now closed to new grants.
The NT Government doubled the HBBS grant on 1 December last year and increased its funding to $6 million.
Since then, more than 300 Territorians have received grants and completed their installations. Another 250 applicants have been approved and are ready to install.
Eligible HBBS applicants received a grant of $400 per kilowatt hour of useable battery system capacity up to a maximum grant of $12,000.
Batteries can be used to store excess midday solar energy for release later in the day when demand is higher, reducing pressure on existing power lines and generators.
The scheme is helping lower energy bills for Territorians, while providing a boost for local businesses benefitting from the supply and installation of solar PV systems and batteries.
