Mount Bundy Gold Project moves towards construction
Construction is set to commence on Primary Gold’s Mount Bundy Gold Project, following the company’s Final Investment Decision (FID).
Located approximately 100 kilometres south-east of Darwin, the project is expected to commence gold production in early 2028 and deliver up to 150,000 ounces of gold per year over an estimated 17-year mine life.
The project will restart three historic mining operations – the Rustlers Roost and Quest 29 open-cut mines and the Tom’s Gully underground mine – and is expected to create more than 400 construction jobs, supporting Territory businesses, contractors and service industries.
A further milestone has been reached with the NT Government granting a pipeline permit to Australian Gas Infrastructure Group, enabling preliminary on-ground survey work to determine the route of a future gas pipeline to power the mine site.
Earlier this year, Primary Gold was granted a Deemed Mining Licence, allowing the project to progress through the regulatory pathway towards construction.
The project’s accommodation village, being constructed by local company NT Link, is nearing completion and will provide accommodation for up to 258 workers.
Construction of the 5.5 million tonne per annum processing plant is scheduled to commence next month, with supporting infrastructure including a dedicated gas pipeline and on-site gas power station expected to be delivered by the end of 2027 through Build-Own-Operate arrangements.
The project represents a significant investment in the Territory’s resources sector and is expected to deliver long-term economic opportunities for Territorians and local businesses.
